Pair of Chinese armchairs of the 19th century in red "sang de boeuf" lacquered wood with hand carved and polychromed floral and characters decoration, as well as gilded, hand-painted floral decoration on the lacker. Original silk upholstery with floral, dragons, temples, birds and swan hunting scenes decoration in cream, blue, orange and green over a black background. The width of both armchair is slightly different.
Origin: China.
Period: Likely of late 19th century.
Conditions: Very good. Wear consistent with age and use. Some parts of the gilt decoration fade away. Some scarce small chips of the lacquer.
